1383206_seo_conceptIf you have an ecommerce store, the chances are, it is not optimised. Whether you have done SEO in the past or plan to in the future, you have a great opportunity. Unlike other businesses, such as service providers, you have 1000s of pages to optimise for search engines, rather than just 5 or 10!

OEM Descriptions

A new range hits the wholesaler’s shelves and you are desperate to get it on your website. So, what do you do? Post 1,000s of OEM manufacturer descriptions! The problem is 100s of stores in your niche are doing the same thing, creating duplicate content. This can hurt your search engine rankings.

Do re-write descriptions to incorporate some related keywords; really sell the product.

Don’t stuff in too many keywords.

On-page SEO for products

If you own a large ecommerce store, you might have 1000 products, possibly even 10000. Just remember, every page that you modify, will help!

Do use model/brand names, Meta descriptions and unique titles for that page.

Don’t leave it until next week; get started today! If you do optimise 10 pages per day, you will have done over 3600 by this time next year!

Load time

Remember, if your site works well for SEO, it will work well for conversions too! Load time is a good example of this.

Do reduce the size of images and compress files if possible.
Don’t upload files that don’t need to be there. If you have manufacturer videos, link out to them rather than embedding them.

Use a blog for link bait

How many companies these days don’t have a blog? Not many! If you can produce great posts, you’ll get some great back links and you’ll see your rankings sky rocket. Consistently build unique and high quality content. If you can, you can use a blog posting service to kick start your content marketing campaign, like the one offered here.
Do write regularly and offer users value; structure content in a visually pleasing way.
Don’t keyword stuff, incorporate unnecessary text to reach a word count quota or post anything that you don’t think your target audience will be interested in.
